The rest of this site is a number. This is the part where we say why the number matters. Our name is 190 years old; the plant is much older than that, the appetite may be older still, and the atoms it is built from are 13.8 billion years old and were made inside stars. Everything here runs on that scale, the history, the language, and the people. Written to be read, checked before it was written, and free of anything we cannot stand behind.

In 2019 a team publishing in Science Advances found cannabinol residue in wooden braziers at a cemetery in the Pamirs dated to about 500 BCE: cannabis, burned at a graveside, for the same reason anyone has ever lit incense. Tobacco has thousands of years of the same story on another continent. Most cultures did this at a funeral long before they did it for fun.
